MboxReader Pro is a 100% local-processing application. We do not collect, store, or transmit any of your personal information, email content, or MBOX files to any external servers. All indexing, searching, and viewing of your data happens exclusively on your local device.

2. File Access

The app requires permission to access your local file system to read the MBOX files you explicitly select. We do not scan your folders or access any files without your direct action.

3. Third-Party Services

• Microsoft Store: The app uses Microsoft Store services for licensing and In-App Purchases. These services may collect basic telemetry related to transaction success, which is governed by Microsoft's Privacy Policy .
• No Analytics: We do not use third-party tracking or analytics (like Google Analytics or Flurry) inside the app.

4. Data Security

Your data never leaves your computer, providing maximum privacy and security. All email processing happens locally on your device.

Security Measures

• HTML Sanitization: Email HTML content is automatically cleaned to remove potentially malicious scripts, unsafe elements, and harmful code before display.
• Sandboxed Rendering: Emails are displayed in isolated iframes with strict security policies to prevent code execution and unauthorized access to your system.
• Link Validation: External links are checked for safety before opening. The app warns you about potentially suspicious URLs.
• Local Storage Only: All data is stored in a local SQLite database on your device. No cloud storage or remote synchronization.
• No Network Access: Email content is never transmitted over the internet. The app operates entirely offline for email processing.

Your Responsibility

We recommend:

• Keeping your operating system updated with the latest security patches
• Using full-disk encryption (such as BitLocker on Windows or FileVault on macOS) for additional protection
• Using strong passwords or biometric authentication to protect your device
• Being cautious when opening links or attachments from unknown senders

6. Data Retention and Storage

Local Storage Location

All emails, attachments, and search indexes are stored locally on your device in a dedicated application folder:

• Windows: %LOCALAPPDATA%\MboxReaderPro\

Files Stored

• mboxreader.db3 - Main database with emails and search index
• loaded_files.json - List of loaded MBOX files
• indexing_state.json - Indexing progress (temporary)
• agreement.json - License agreement acceptance record

Deleting Your Data

To completely remove all data from MboxReader Pro:

1. Close the application
2. Navigate to the storage location above
3. Delete the entire MboxReaderPro folder

This will permanently delete all indexed emails, search data, and application settings. Your original MBOX files remain untouched.

7. Data Processing

All data processing occurs locally on your device:

• Email Parsing: MBOX files are read and parsed entirely on your computer
• Indexing: Search indexes are built locally using SQLite FTS5
• Analytics: All charts and statistics are computed from local data
• Attachments: Files are extracted and stored locally

8. Changes to This Policy

We may update this privacy policy from time to time. Any changes will be posted on this page with an updated "Last Updated" date. We encourage you to review this policy periodically.
